The feeling of my pots comes from my childhood and later apprenticeship spent in Japan. I do not specifically try to make Japanese-style work but my sense of line and strength is quite Eastern. As well as chopping huge amounts of wood, I studied a variety of styles and firing techniques in Japan which has informed my desire to make a wide range of pieces. I try to make shapes which are good to use and feel good to hold - small pots with delicacy, big ones with power.
